Programs of Study

The B. S. in Physics is intended for students who plan to pursue a career in physics or a related field. This program requires at least 48 semester hours (s.h.) of physics courses and 27 s.h. of biology, chemistry and mathematics. General education courses from the social sciences and humanities, and courses on writing and oral communication provide a well-rounded education. Students also choose from several electives in addition to these requirements.

The B.S. in Secondary Education in Physics or Physics and Mathematics prepares future teachers of physics and math in secondary schools, and requires 61-64 s.h. of physics, math, chemistry, and biology, besides general education courses. Teaching specialization requires an additional 37 s.h. of courses from professional education and psychology, which includes a one-semester full-time student teaching course.

Minor in physics can be done in conjunction with any other major degree program by taking 20 s.h. of physics courses.
